Departure

The inexpressible angst that grips and knots my stomach tight
The emptiness that settles in
The sharp forked pain in my chest
I get anxious when the sun is setting
My whole self on pins and needles when the sun departs from the sky
Ripping of my heart to a pulsating ball in my arms craving a cuddle
I whisper to myself
‘Release the day from your tight grasp honey, taste the midnight bliss’

I long to suspend time float it into eternity perhaps,
Stop it, perhaps
Pause it, perhaps
To when the trees are still and silent as if in worship
When treetops whistle
When the crows and sparrows mix their soft and guttural in a serene karaoke
When the wind stops the rustling of leaves.

I get anxious when the sun is setting
I get anxious when the sun departs from the sky.
