Candle Light Lullaby
The following morning we received news of his passing
Like all the heroes he rested, quiet and still in the quiver like the arrow he was
And like the rest, he had gone out like a candle in the morning light,
Engulfed in the bright light,
One light transitioning to the other,
His departure to the unknown left no trace of darkness behind.
What does one do
when the monstrous sense of loss engulfs the need to shed a single drop of tear,
There is a lot to be done today,
I’ve got to compose poems and hymns
I’ve got to sing the last lullabies to unite him with the ancestors.
